In which Demi is bored of Medieval poetry revision.

The title's a pretty good summation of my feelings right now. Which is bad, since it's only my second day of revising it, and I still have a lot to learn before Thursday's exam. Boo.

Did my first exam on Thursday. Didn't go great, and I have myself to blame for that. Note to self: learn to tell time better. A lack of maths lessons in your life is no excuse.

That and some recent boy intervention (not just the ex, also someone equally unavailable) led to the anger than spawned the previous post. In general, I am not an 'angry' person. I am pretty much zen until exams or something come around, where I turn into a bit of a gibbering mess. But anger? Not really me. It takes a lot to get me going, and it was the culmination of months of frustration, topped with the exam mess-up cherry. After a good night's sleep, I'm back to not really caring.... YAY!

In other news, I was recently elected the new PR, Distribution and Social Secretary of my University magazine! WOOHOO! Basically it will be my job to co-ordinate advertising, events, manage the physical distribution of the issues and organise social events for the writers and editors. Yikes. Sounds like a lot, but it was too good an opportunity for PR experience to pass up. I was incredibly nervous during my speech, but since a couple of people in the running dropped out it meant that I got the place, along with another girl on my course, by default. I was then invited to a lovely meal out with all the old and new editors and magazine exec, and despite not knowing many people (and none very well) I had a really nice night.

I thought I'd also throw a couple of pictures in here to comemorate this, partly because (as silly as it sounds) I was super impressed with how my hair came out after using this ballerina bun tutorial from Lauren Conrad's new website, The Beaty Department, which I love. It covers hair and makeup, provides video style tutorials, and all sorts of other awesome stuff. I recommend!

So here were my results with the ballerina bun:

Outfit details: Cardigan - Matalan; Vest - Primark; Jeans - UNIQLO (love love love their jeans!); Shoes - Primark; Bracelets - all presents.

I was reeeally happy with it! Obviously a few more tries will make it even better, but since I have super long hair at the moment, I love nothing more than tucking it all away out of my face.

More soon. Until then, I'll be entertaining myself with Medieval poetry and regular Grey's Anatomy/ tea breaks. xo.

My way, or the Highway[Code]

So tomorrow's my driving theory. I borrowed a question book and interactive (I assume) DVD from S. But, in typical Demi fashion, it's been left til 9pm the night before, since I have been sat catching up with The Hills all evening. I am actually so ashamed! *Hangs head*

So ridiculously stupid, yet so addictive. I want to be an LA girl!

Although the weather has turned grim here again, nicht gut. And I was having a serious mooch day, which resulted in the following Friday outfit.

dress - Tu at Sainsbury's, cardigan - New Look, tights - Pretty Polly, necklace - H&M, bracelets - Mum's/Vintage
I couldn't even be bothered with my hair today, hence the messy bun. I normally wear this dress with a belt since otherwise it's a bit shapeless, but I went for comfort today :)
AND, I wore my new shoes to school.

shoes - Matalan

These were such a bargain I couldn't resist. Although I conveniently forgot that I had a ten minute walk between classes up a slight hill. Luckily, common sense prevailed and I tucked a pair of flats in my bag ;)
The leggings turned out to be 3/4 length, which is a no-no for me and my legs. Ahh, the joys of being a shorty.
RIGHT, so next time I post I hope to have A) a job and B) passed my theory! I'm going job hunting after my test, and I think I know a restaurant in need of a slightly clumsy waitress.
Here's hoping. xo

Friday Outfit

I wouldn't say I'm a hardcore fashion addict. I know several, so I have someone to compare myself to. I couldn't 'name that designer' or reel off the last 5 cover girls of Vogue like I'm sure they could. I'm more of a fashion fan. I love shopping. I love discovering shops or websites no-one else knows about. I dress for me - what fits, what colours suit me, and what I'm comfortable in. I'm not saying I never dabble in trends, but I would describe my own style as very classic, pretty basic and low budget, jazzed up with accessories.

It's always been like that. My mum's not a fashion fan, and thinks it's stupid to spend a ton of money on clothes that will be out of style in a few months, or can be found much cheaper elsewhere. And I'm the same really. That's not to say I'm not tempted when I have a flick through Grazia or have a look on ASOS.com. I just know that [most of the time] it's not worth the money. When you've lived on a clothes budget most of your life, you learn to compromise.

Today's outfit was a prime example.

[Excuse the shoddy camera work. I'm in desperate need of a new camera.]
white shirt and black brocade skirt - Matalan, patent belt - New Look, leggings - Tesco
Maybe I'm not the most fashionable gal in school, but I'm happy and comfortable with my style. Although my wardrobe is in dire need of a clearout and new basics. I'm looking for a job as soon as I take my driving theory test next Saturday.
I ended up caving in and buying the Gossip Girl first series. Half price was just too tempting. I also bought the black and gold brocade skirt I featured a few posts ago, as well as a navy, long boyfriend cardigan, FINALLY! I love it, it's so cosy. But the skirt's too big, which is a shame because it's gorgeous. I'm going to take it into town and see if they have a size 8. I haven't been a size 8 in a while. I lost a bunch of weight over the holidays from just eating dinner and drinking about 8 cups of tea a day.
While I'm on the topic of purchases, my package arrived from My Vintage Charms!
For a grand total of like 6 quid [including p&p] I was impressed. I wore my fish today and got a bunch of compliments. Although I did have to go without my scarf, since it's quite delicate, and ended up half-frozen. Clever.

I've started listening to All American Rejects again. It's not a good sign. First the glitter eyeliner... now this?

I think I'm regressing.

xo

PS. I am in love with the film Little Miss Sunshine. It's my new favourite ever ever. I love Dwayne to bits; me and mum almost cried when he found out he... well, I won't say in case anyone's not seen it :)
